Try this delicious appetizer recipe.a delicious combination!
I aimed to develop extra Italian recipes for the recipe catalog, and I began to consider these delightful profiteroles. I was considering ways to simplify and speed up reaching the dinner table!
Thus, I devised the concept of unfilled, cheesy profiteroles. Or, as I prefer to name them – parmesan puffs (it’s simply simpler than “profiteroles”!).
These parmesan puffs are an exceptionally simple and delicious treat. The parmesan cheese provides a delightful, cheesy taste, the black pepper adds a touch of spice, and they require very little time to make. Overall, it’s quite a reliable recipe.
Ingredient
- 1 1/2 cups flour,
- 1 teaspoon salt,
- 1 cup margarine,
- 1/2 cup sour cream,
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese,
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions,
- 2 tablespoons chopped mushrooms, and
- 2 tablespoons chopped ripe olives
INSTRUCTIONS
Combine flour and salt; cut in margarine until mixture forms a ball. Stir in the sour cream. Divide the dough into four equal parts. Wrap each component in plastic wrap and chill for several hours. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Roll each section into a 12 x 6-inch rectangle on a floured board. Half of each rectangle should be topped with cheese, onion, mushrooms, or olives. Fold the dough in half to make a 6-inch square. Press the edges of the 6-inch square as you cut it into 2-inch squares. Continue until all of the dough has been prepared.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet at 350°F. Can be made ahead of time and refrigerated before baking for 30 minutes. This tasty appetizer recipe yields 36 appetizers....excellent! Have fun with it!
Consume Now or Prepare for Later
These parmesan cheese puffs are most enjoyable when served right away while hot, but you can prepare them in advance. If you intend to serve them in the next day or two, keep them at room temperature in a sealed container. When you're set to serve, simply place them back in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for 5-10 minutes to warm them up.
If you intend to offer them after a day or two, I’ve discovered that they freeze exceptionally well. Place in the freezer using a sealed container. They ought to last for as long as three months.
Function as a Complement to a Main Dish or as an Independent Appetizer
Countless tasty methods exist to present these small puffs. First of all, they serve as an enhanced and ideal substitute for your regular dinner roll. Spread them with butter or soak them in olive oil, and you’ve got a delicious side of bread!
For festive occasions, they serve as a delightful cheesy addition to ham. This makes them ideal for your Easter or Christmas table.
These delights also have a fantastic flavor when paired with an Italian themed dinner. To me, essentially any pasta smothered in a tasty marinara sauce pairs well with these puffs. I believe they are delicious when served with a large dish of Classic Spaghetti and Meatballs or One Pot Garlic Parmesan Chicken Pasta.
I enjoy pairing these parmesan puffs with Lobster Bisque and a Field Greens Salad for an indulgent dinner on a date night at home.
In their mini version, they make an excellent dish for an appetizer. These tiny rolls only require a bit of butter, and your guests will enjoy them.
They're overflowing with cheesy delight, and you can serve them at your table in 30 minutes. What an awesome combination!
